QUADOS Directory README. September 30, 2005
QUADOS, or Quality Assurance of Computational Tools for Dosimetry, is a
Concerted Action by EURADOS, the European Radiation Dosimetry Group.
The QUADOS workshop, held July 14-16, 2003, allowed participants to review and
discuss the results of their code intercomparison of 8 different medical physics
related problems. For more information on QUADOS, go to
http://www.nea.fr/download/quados/quados.html
The complete proceedings of the conference are now available.

The MCNP input decks contained in this directory are draft
attempts to calculate 6 different problems. The final drafts were submitted
to the QUADOS intercomparison and are listed as the "MCNP5" result. At the
time, MCNP5 was only available to Los Alamos National Laboratory personell, and
this was a summer project by a master's student from Texas A&M University.

Problem 1: Brachytherapy: 192Ir gamma-ray source. Calculation of angular
anisotropy and dose distribution in water.
Problem 2: Endovascular: 32P beta source. Calculation of the dose in the vessel
wall along the longitudinal axis of the source and the radial dose profile.
Problem 4: TLD-albedo dosemeter response calculation: neutron and/or photon
source. Calculation of the neutron and/or photon response of a 4 element
TL dosemeter mounted on a standard ISO slab phantom.
Problem 5: Phantom backscatter: X-ray ISO reference beams. Calculation of the
air kerma backscatter factor profiles and the energy distribution of the
backscatter photon fluence along the face of the standard ISO slab phantom.
Problem 6: Environmental scatter: bare 252Cf neutron source located at the center
of a concrete walled calibration room. The use of a shadow cone is studied.
Problem 7: Germanium detector: photon sources with energies in the range from 15keV
to 1 MeV. The pulse height distribution in a germainum detector is studied.
